FAQ – MOT Services

1. What is an MOT test?
An MOT (Ministry of Transport) test is a compulsory annual inspection to ensure your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards set by the DVSA. It checks key components like brakes, lights, suspension, tyres, and emissions.
2. When does my vehicle need an MOT?
Most vehicles need an MOT once a year, starting from the 3rd anniversary of their first registration. You can take the test up to 30 days before your current MOT expires without losing time.
3. How long does an MOT test take?
A standard MOT test usually takes 45–60 minutes. If any repairs are needed, the time may vary depending on the work required.
4. What happens if my vehicle fails the MOT?
If your vehicle fails, you’ll receive a VT30 failure certificate explaining the issues. We can carry out the necessary repairs and offer a free retest (subject to conditions) once the work is completed.
5. Can I drive my vehicle if it fails the MOT?
You can only drive it to or from a repair/test station if the vehicle is safe. If it has dangerous defects, driving it is illegal and you may face penalties.
